The Mystery of the Cross - Symbolism and Images

I.·.P.·.H.·. Guillermo Calvo Soriano, 33rd

The Cross, with its two basic components, the vertical and horizontal beams,

is among the oldest symbols of Humanity. Aside from its merely indicative function,

for example, as a traffic sign, the Cross contains several aspects laden

with symbolism, appearing as the center

and end of the World, as a reduction to the earthly realm and as an unfolding

towards infinity. Therein lies precisely the Mystery of the Cross: in it all opposites

are overcome, and in it World, Man, and Divinity converge and unite.
